(On a side note, even though I do have a GPS, I still keep several atlases and maps in the car and use them regularly when we travel. They never let me down. Plus, when I look at a map, I get an idea of where I actually am, not just where my next turn is. What can I say, I'm resistant to progress.)
But back to using maps for their good looks. I love maps simply hung on the wall as art or wallpaper but I'm really excited by some of these less traditional uses of maps.
Love these! I'll have to post a few of my own map projects soon.

Went to a yard sale and picked some old National Geographic maps - remember the ones they had in the magazines back in the day? The lady was so surprised I wanted the yellowed-old-things, she GAVE Them to me and ran into her house with another pile of them.
Anyway :) i've been wanting to line my drawers with them...but not sure how to get them to stick in there. Do you have any ideas for that?

LUV the blog and the inspiration!!
Thanks! I always look for old maps at yard sales - so jealous you got them for free. Lining drawers with some of my accumulated maps is on my project list too but I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure the best approach. I am thinking maybe spray adhesive. I will let you know how it works.
Oh, these are some amazing projects! I think I love that last chair best of all. I did a map decoupage on a small dresser that sits in my living room, and I love it!
I'm with you on maps! a GPS has it's place, but it certainly can't replace a paper map in my book.
I especially love the silhouette ~ so pretty
CoffeeSnob ~ maybe rubber cement? it should adhere well, but pull right off if you wanted to take the maps out later.
Carrie ~ loving the blog; welcome! (came over from missmustard)
oh yes - please please do! I adore maps (let's call them cartographs, dahling, shall we? sounds profoundly more antique) and use them in my little art projects. (LOVE the lampshade you included in your inspiration photos, btw) Always looking for fresh ideas for map projects. I know tone doesn't convey with written comments, just so you know, I was SO pretending to be pretentious in the 1st sentence.... xo Diane
