Chalk Paint Ampersand Sign

Wow, I worked on a ton of really great projects this weekend that I cannot wait to share.  Today I wanted to show you a little sign I created.  I think I’m in love.

I don’t know why, but I have a real thing for ampersands.  I’ve been wanting to make an ampersand sign for awhile.

This little guy was created using an old cabinet door and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  I lightly layered on chalk paint in aubusson blue and napoleonic blue followed by a quick coat of pure white around the edges.  After adding the ampersand I lightly distressed the sign.

Just look at that gorgeous texture.  I love to experiment with new colors and techniques on small projects before using them on furniture.  This layering technique was definitely a winner – I can’t wait to use it more.

By the way, the winner of the $25 gift certificate to Sneakpeeq is Linda Thenhaus and the winner of the $10 gift certificate is Debbie Pedigo.  Congratulations!

I love your ampersand sign Carrie! I’ve been wondering what to do with the cabinet doors that have been in my basement for several years. Thank you for the inspiration to make something fun with them!

LOVE IT …. (can I have it ….?) haha – just kidding. :-)
    sort of.
I am just dying to get some chalk paint. I’ve seen it for a sale at a couple of the “junk” sales I’ve been to recently, but by the time I’ve bought a car full of “treasures”, I always feel guilty buying the paint, too … one of these days! :-)
