I love DIYing and decorating but gardening is beyond me. I do NOT have a green thumb. Luckily the area around my house is wooded because let’s just say I go for the natural look when it comes to landscaping.
Luckily for me, the previous owners of our house were wonderful gardeners and planted lots of gorgeous flowers. And luckily, they continue to flourish even with no help from me.
But here is my conundrum. Even though I am a total doofus at growing flowers, I am generally pretty good at identifying them. But these beauties have me stumped. (Even my go to authority – my grandmother - wasn’t quite sure what they are.)
The blooms are not only gorgeous, they are also huge. Around 6-8 inches in diameter! The grow on bushes and I have hot pink, light pink, purple, and yellow versions.
So what do you think? Anyone have any guesses? Granny thought maybe some sort of peony? I’m betting one of you will definitely know. Thanks for sharing your expertise.

Pretty sure that's a tree peony. White Flower Farm carries them if you want to read up. Gorgeous!
My first thought was Peony as well.
Yes, I'd say it's a tree peony. Gorgeous!!
Yes, those are peonies! I loved the ones our neighbor had. Beautiful flowers aren't they!
Peonies for sure. They are gorgeous!
Agree that you have peonies. I am so jealous. Have planted them over and over...none ever flowered. This year I am trying them in a pot.
Granny knows best! It's a peony I love these it's too bad they don't bloom longer :( Enjoy.
Definitely a peony- they are so beautiful!
Peonies disappear sadly after the first rainfall... Such giants but yet so delicate.
Jennie.
It absolutely is a Tree Peony! Different from "regular" peonies, these are considered a woody shrub and should never be pruned! Enjoy, yours are LOVELY!
