There are certain things that I see over and over at yard sales and thrift stores. One example: silverware boxes. They are typically empty – I wonder where all that silver has gone? – and pretty cheap. I’ve always been a little intrigued by them and I love any kind of container. (I’m an organization junky). So when I found one at a yard sale with all the little silverware holders already ripped out, I knew it was destined for a makeover.
I removed the remaining bits of cardboard and velvet from the inside and gave the whole thing a light sanding. Then I primed it and drybrushed it with aqua, white, and gray paint. I decided it needed a little pizazz so I painted the word etcetera on one corner and then lightly sanded the whole thing.
