I adore summer. I cannot express strongly enough how much I love, love, love summer. I’m not gonna lie – it doesn’t hurt that, thanks to my great job as a school counselor, I get two months off every summer. But I know I would love summer even if I were slaving away in an office. There is just something magical about it. As soon as the air starts getting warm and the days start getting longer, I feel myself coming more alive.
That’s why when I saw this quote, it was love at first sight. It said, “A life without love is like a year without summer.”
So I decided to make my own version. I wrapped an old canvas that I had in some wonderful, nubby linen my grandmother had given me and then stapled the linen to the back of the canvas. I have tons of tiny fabric scraps and this was a perfect project to use some of them. I cut triangles out of a bunch of fabric scraps and glued them to the linen with fabric glue. The black letters are rub-on letters from the scrapbooking section at Michaels. I drew “LOVE” on with a white fabric marker and the white letters spelling SUMMER were stamped on with large foam stamps and white paint.
