HOW TO BUILD SIMPLE, STYLISH DIY WOOD SHUTTERS

Changing out your shutters is one of the easiest ways to really make a difference in the exterior of your home.

MATERIALS

– Pine boards – Wood glue – Pocket screws – Wood screws – Exterior paint or stain and waterproof sealer – Paint brush

TOOLS

– Tape measure – Pencil – Miter Saw – Kreg Jig  – Drill and drill bits

To find the correct height for your shutters, measure the height of your window not including the window frame.

To form the front face of the shutter, attach the three short pieces to the two long sides with pocket screws.

BUILD THE FRONT SHUTTER FRAME.

Attach three long boards to the back of this with screws and wood glue to form the back panel.

Finish with wood stain and sealer or exterior paint.
