If you are using clear ball ornaments, the first step is paint. Pour about a teaspoon of paint inside the ornament and swirl it around until the entire inside is covered in paint.
TYPES OF GOLD LEAF
Inexpensive gold leaf meant for crafts is typically made of less expensive metals and colored to look like gold. You can get real gold leaf but it will be pricey.
Wait for the adhesive to dry and become tacky.
Gently place your gold leaf onto your ornament where you’ve spread your glue. Gently brush your paintbrush all over to adhere the gold leaf.
If you are adding gold leaf to a flat ornament, you can simply lay it on top. Then use your fingers or paintbrush to fold the edges over to cover the sides.
FILL IN GAPS IN THE GOLD LEAF
Fill any bare spots by laying a piece of gold leaf over the spot and brushing over it with a paintbrush. Remove the transfer paper and brush it again.
HOW TO SEAL GOLD LEAF
Sealing your ornaments is easy, but you should follow the instructions on your type of sealer. In general, you will gently brush sealer over your gold leaf. Let it dry to a clear finish.
