10 BEST TIPS ON FINDING FABRIC SUPER CHEAP

I love gorgeous fabric, but it can be so expensive. I'm sharing all of my secrets for getting large amounts of great fabric cheap.

START AT A FABRIC STORE – BUT DON’T BUY ANYTHING THERE. The first step is to do a little research checking out the weight and feel of different fabrics to find what you want. Check the home decor and upholstery fabric.

BUY YOUR FABRIC AT PLACES OTHER THAN FABRIC STORES Fabric stores are the obvious place to buy fabric, but not the cheapest. Check out yard sales, thrift stores, Homegoods, TJMaxx, Marshalls, Target, Ikea.

THINK OUTSIDE THE FABRIC BOLT You can buy fabric – even large amounts – without buying it by the yard. If you don't need a lot of yardage, consider using fabric from: -skirts & dresses -sheets -curtains -shower curtains -tablecloths -drop cloths

MAKE IT YOUR OWN Even if you can’t find fabric you love at a price you like, you can still make it happen with a bit of DIY help.  Here's how: -dye it -paint it -stencil it

Fabric dye is a fabulous way to quickly and easily change the color of just about any fabric. You can even create an ombre look like I did on my curtains.

You can paint fabric with great, non-crunchy results with fabric paint or a fabric medium with regular craft paint. I even painted my son's comforter!

Take your fabric painting a step further and use a stencil. There are tons of beautiful stencils, or you can make your own using freezer paper.

And there you have it! The tricks I use to get yards and yards of great fabric for cheap.
