This simple Joy to the World ornament is beautiful and super easy to make.

I’m a huge fan of creating Christmas decorations and ornaments inspired by my favorite Christmas songs and this ornament was clearly inspired by the song Joy to the World!

How to Make DIY Joy to the World Ornaments

This ornament began with a bag full of small globes I found at the Goodwill. As soon as I saw them, I knew they would make perfect ornaments.

I’ve seen similar paper globes in various places over the years.

This set of 4 globe ornaments from World Market is cute and pretty reasonably priced. And I have also seen similar globe ornaments at Joann’s Fabrics closer to Christmas time.

Once you have your globe ornament, these are super simple to make.

If you are using mini globes that don’t already have a way to hang them, you can attach a small eye hook.

Then you just need to add the Joy to the World tag.

I made my tags using a copy of the sheet music to ‘Joy to the World’ torn from an old hymnal. (If you don’t happen to have an old hymnal laying around, I have a free copy of Joy to the World ready to download here).

I cut a tag shape from my Joy to the World ornament and then backed it with a coordinating piece of scrapbook paper. I added the word ‘Joy’ to the tag in a scripty font and then used a mini hole punch to punch a hole in the tag.

Then I threaded the tag onto twine and attached it to the eye hook for hanging the ornament on the tree.

    1. Thanks Sallie! There isn’t a place for more complete instructions but it really is super simple. Just cut the music into the shape of a little tag. Cut the scrapbook paper into the same shape slightly larger. Also, I now have a free download of a copy of joy to the world if you need a copy of the music.
