DIY for Less: Wooden Photo Display by House by Hoff
Today I am thrilled to have the fabulous April from House by Hoff here to share another wonderful way to display family photos in your home. Next week I will be back sharing my own projects. I have loved letting my blog friends take over these past few weeks while I spent quality time with my wee one, but I have some really awesome projects that I never got a chance to share with you guys before my little guy made a surprise early entry. Including finally showing off Griffin’s adorable big boy room. See you back here next week! Until then, take it away April!

Hello, Lovely Etc. readers! I’m April, from House by Hoff, and I’m here to share a fun photo project with you today!
I love framed photos, but I’m always looking for new and different ways to display family pictures around my house.
To begin, you need to round up your supplies.
1. First give your photo {printed from your home printer onto a piece of regular printer paper} a nice, thick coat of Liquitex Gloss Gel.
2. Place your photo, face down, onto your block of wood. Use a straight edge {like a ruler} to gently work out any air bubbles. Start at the center and work your way out. Leave the photo on the wood for at least 12 hours.
3. After 12 hours, take a damp wash cloth and gently rub. The paper starts to come right off, and your image is left on the wood! If some of your photo rubs off, that’s ok…it will just look more antiqued, right?? ;)
4. After your photo block of wood is completely dry and all of the paper is off, give your photo block a coat of Mod Podge. I used the Mod Podge with an antique finish, and I was very happy with it.
***I tried this photo to wood transfer method three times. It worked great 2/3 of the time. It seems like more saturated images work better than images that look washed out or too light.***
*Sigh*….this was my little baby almost three years ago. Right before her first birthday. She was smiling at her daddy, who was acting silly behind me as I snapped pictures…such a great memory!
I hope you found some inspiration today. For more DIY, decorating, and crafting ideas, be sure to check out my blog House by Hoff or my project gallery.
Have a great day!
