21 Creative Gift Ideas for Crafters and Makers for 2024
Gift ideas the crafters and makers in your life will love. This list is packed with fun art supplies, cute crafting gear, and modern craft kits that are sure to inspire creativity.
My family members have already started asking me what I would like for Christmas this year. And my list was actually pretty bare!
So I started doing some research, looking for some fun creative gift ideas and I found so many fantastic ideas, I knew I had to share them.
I love crafting and getting creative, but the past few years I’ve been more focused on house renovations and major projects and haven’t had nearly enough time to just make something fun.
This list is filled with fun gift ideas for the crafty, creative people in your life. The ones who love to make things and get creative and relax with a good project.
I’ve included must-have craft supplies, creative art kits, new crafts to try, cute crafty gear, and smart storage solutions to contain the mess.
And I’ve tried to keep everything budget-friendly. There are a few more pricey things, but most of the things on this list are very affordable.
All of the gift ideas are organized into a few categories to make things easy to find:
- Favorite Craft Supplies
- Craft Kits and Classes
- Gear and Apparel
- Craft Storage and Organization
And I also put together a separate gift guide for DIYers and woodworkers, the people who’d rather get creative in a workshop than a craft room. It’s definitely worth checking out next.

Favorite Craft Supplies
Cricuit Maker
I can’t talk about craft supplies without mentioning the Cricuit maker. This is by far the most expensive thing on this list, but it is well-loved by crafters because it can do so many things. It can cut hundreds of different materials with exact precision including fabric, balsa wood, leather, vinyl, and more. And crafters love using it to make personalized shirts, mugs, signs, decor, and all kinds of other things. If you’re looking for a big ticket item for a crafter, this is kind of a home run.
Sharpie Paint Markers
I’ve used many different types of paint pens over the years and these Sharpie paint pens are by far the best. They come in water-based or oil-based versions. The oil-based pens are amazing for DIY projects because they write smoothly on metal, plastic, raw wood, painted wood, and even stained wood. I try to always have a pack of these on hand.
Paper Cutter
A paper cutter can make hundreds of perfectly straight cuts super fast. I used to have a paper cutter and often find myself wishing I still did! This thing comes in handy way more often than you’d imagine.
Flair felt tip pens
A few of my teacher friends told me how amazing these pens are and they were absolutely right. These pens are the best for any type of sketching, paper crafts, or even bullet journaling. They come in tons of beautiful colors and they’re just fun to use.
Craft knife set and cutting mat
A set of craft knifes and a cutting mat are a must-have for any crafter. They make it easy to cut paper as well as clay, plastic, and other materials when regular scissors just won’t work. Just be sure to choose a cutting mat that is at least 12″x18″ – any smaller isn’t going to be as practical.
Craft Kits and Classes
Let’s Make Art
Let’s Make Art is a woman-owned small business that’s all about teaching people how to create beautiful art using watercolor and other mediums. They have individual project kits as well as subscription boxes for kids and adults. All of their projects are incredibly gorgeous and their kits include all the paints you need along with detailed instructions.
DIY Solar Printing Kit
Solar printing is an incredibly fun and easy way to create beautiful art. The sun actually creates the print which is borderline magical. This makes a great gift for kids or adults and you can choose how many sheets of the special light sensitive paper you want.
Embroidery kit for beginners
These beautiful embroidery kits are perfect for beginners. Each kit comes with the pattern preprinted on the fabric and includes an embroidery hoop, needles, and all the threads you need. It’s the perfect project for a long winter weekend.
Paint by Number Kit
I’ve always been fascinated by paint by number paintings. I’m no great artist, but this feels like something I could do. There are so many gorgeous painting options out there. I really love this city canal paint by number but there are hundreds of other kits to choose from on Etsy. You can even have a custom paint by number kit created from a personal family photo.
Bottle Cutter and Glass Cutter Kit
This kit makes it easy to turn old bottles into beautiful glasses, vases, windchimes, and more. It comes with everything you need including the bottle cutter, glass cutter, drill bit, sandpaper and instructions.
Succulents needle-felting kit
I’ve always thought needle-felting looks amazing but I’ve never had the chance to try it. This needle-felting kit comes with everything you need to make your own tiny cactus.
Resin coaster kit for beginners
Resin crafts have become really popular over the past few years. If you haven’t had a chance to try them yet, this is a great beginner kit. This kit includes everything you need to make beautiful resin coasters but there are also lots of kits with molds for making resin jewelry and keychains.
Crafting classes
Some crafts are easy to just pick up on your own, but sometimes you need a little help to take things to the next level. There are several online platforms that host a huge variety of courses in all kinds of crafts. Three popular options are Craftsy, CreativeBug, and CreativeLive. Each platform hosts hundreds of courses and I was able to find some that I was interested in very quickly. On most of these platforms, you sign up for a monthly fee that gives you access to as many classes as you want. You can also look into classes offered by local businesses.
Hand-lettering book
With all the technology available to us these days, nice handwriting isn’t nearly as important as it used to be. But I think that’s what makes beautiful hand-lettering and calligraphy so intriguing. This book teaches you the basics and also includes plenty of practice space. I think the spiral binding is a nice touch since it’s also a workbook. Or for another option, this guide to modern calligraphy and hand-lettering also has great reviews and is super affordable.
Gear and Apparel
Crafting Graphic Ts
I love a good graphic T and there are so many cute ones on Etsy for crafters. I love the weekends, coffee, & crafting shirt pictured and this I just wanna stay home and craft shirt is also super cute.
Artist Canvas Apron
This canvas apron is perfect for artists and makers of all types. The crisscross back straps and waist tie are super cute and there are tons of pockets to keep all of your supplies close at hand.
I’d rather be crafting mug
This fabulous mug is the perfect thing to hold your favorite crafter’s hot tea or coffee. Even better, it can be personalized with her name. For another option, I also really like this mug with it’s colorful interior and simple exterior.
Craft Storage and Organization
Craft Tool Box Organizer
This organizer is perfect for storing all the tiny pieces that come with beading, jewelry making, and other crafts. There are four removable trays that can hold pieces along with a large section of top to hold larger tools.
Craft room labels
Most crafters have lots of craft supplies and keeping them organized is a must. These custom vinyl craft room labels make it easy to keep everything organized so it’s easy to find what you need. There are also digital svg labels if you have a Cricuit or other cutting machine to cut out your own.
Custom Labels
Whether you sell your crafts or just give them to friends and family, adding custom labels really takes them to the next level. There are tons of fun craft label options on Etsy including custom leather tags for knit goods, custom fabric labels for sewing projects, and custom stickers for all kinds of other crafts.
Utility Rolling Cart
A simple utility cart is one of the most effective ways to corral craft supplies. A utility cart can help keep all of your supplies close at hand whether you have an entire craft room or just an empty corner to dedicate to crafting.
I hope you found this gift guide helpful. I had a lot of fun researching and putting it together. And it’s definitely given me lots of ideas for my own Christmas list!
