I’m sharing a tour of our home all decorated for Christmas with lots of DIY Christmas decor and thrifted vintage finds.
I haven’t shared a Christmas home tour in a few years, but this felt like the perfect time to share our home all decked out for Christmas. It’s been right around a year since we moved into this house and last year I was still unpacking boxes, so this is the first year we’ve really felt settled here for Christmas.
I absolutely love decorating for Christmas and just like the rest of the year, 99% of my Christmas decor is either a DIY project or something awesome I found at a thrift store. And while I use mostly the same decor year to year, I do like to add a couple of new things each year.
I really haven’t shared many photos of this house yet because I’ve barely even begun to tackle all the projects I want to do here, so this Christmas tour is really the first time I’ve shared most of these rooms since we moved in!
So without further ado, I’d love to welcome you to our home!

Christmas on the Front Porch
We have a cute little front porch that’s the perfect size for sitting in the morning with a cup of coffee. (Or it would be if I wasn’t rushing to get kids to the bus stop as the sun rises.)
This year I made a trio of wooden Christmas trees from scrap wood and they’re perfect for the porch.
The Happy Holidays doormat I painted two years ago is still going strong as well as the wreath I flocked eight years ago!
I added some garland and a few oversized silver bells as well. To be honest, the garland was a bit of a struggle at first. I really like symmetry and the front door with it’s one lonely sidelight was looking very unbalanced. So I tried something different and I think the asymmetrical garland really helped even things out. (I used three of these cedar and pine garlands from Michaels and added a touch of flocking myself.)
Christmas in the entryway
When you come in the front door, you step right into the entryway.
The antique mirror and table full of old books are always there, but I did add some mini Christmas trees and a basket full of pretty wrapping paper.
This year I put some of the mini Christmas trees I’ve collected into an old silver sugar bowl and some mercury glass candle holders and I love how elegant they look. It’s funny how something as small as putting a tree in a different container can totally change the feel!
The entryway opens into the living room and I just love this view of the Christmas tree and mantel reflected in the mirror. But before we head to the living room, we’re going to stop at the dining room.
Christmas in the dining room
This is the first Christmas I’ve ever had two full sized Christmas trees and I had a lot of fun decorating them both.
In the dining room is an 8′ King Noble Flock tree from King of Christmas and it is just beautiful in person. The branches look super realistic and I don’t think a single speck of flocking fell off when I was setting it up.
I decorated it with silver, gold, and white ribbon and ornaments and I love how it looks in our bay window. It’s especially beautiful at night with the lights twinkling through the windows.
I made the gold star on top as well as that pretty Christmas tree collar for super cheap and I absolutely love how they both turned out. (Seriously, would have ever guess they were made using cardstock and cardboard!?!)
I’ve been doing a variation of this same Christmas centerpiece for years now and it really never gets old. The ‘table runner’ is just pieces of sheet music torn from an old music book I found at a yard sale years ago.
On top of that are several candlesticks I’ve found over the years. Pretty candlesticks are one of the things I’m always on the lookout for when I’m thrifting. They’re usually pretty cheap and look beautiful grouped together.
Along with the candlesticks are several pretty glass Christmas trees. I added gold leaf to several glass Christmas tree jars I thrifted and I also added a few light up Christmas trees. (These are very similar).
And then finally, I wound some simple garland around everything to bring it all together.
On the other side of the dining room, I hung our family advent calendar. I made this advent calendar from a broken mirror frame years ago and every year I fill the bags with a piece of candy and a Christmas activity to do together each day.
The activities are things we like to do anyway – things like watching favorite Christmas movies, driving around looking at lights, decorating gingerbread men. But I’ve found that having the calendar helps spread the fun throughout the month, gives everyone something to look forward to each day, and keeps my kids from asking me a million times when we’re going to do certain activities. This calendar is definitely one of my kids’ favorite traditions.
Along with the calendar are a few of my husband’s many, many nutcrackers. He’s been collecting them since he was a kid and this time of year they get sprinkled all around the house.
And the dining room is also home to the vintage radio I repurposed earlier this year. It stays in this spot year round, but for the holidays I added a little forest of glass Christmas trees.
These have mostly been collected from the Target Dollar Spot over the years and I love them.
Christmas in the living room
The living room is where our most important Christmas decorations are – our family Christmas tree and our stockings!
I really didn’t change a whole lot to make the mantel Christmasy. The mirrors and candles are there year round so all I did was add some garland and our Christmas stockings. (And of course a few more nutcrackers).
We have these cream stockings from Target and I made these DIY stocking name tags several years ago so we know whose is whose.
I have lots of tips for the hanging garland on your mantel if you’re looking for an easy method.
And next to the fireplace is our family Christmas tree. I bought this flocked tree from Amazon four years ago and it still looks beautiful. It’s nice and full, all the lights still work, and the flocking stays in place well so if you’re in the market for a new tree, I highly recommend this one.
This tree is full of lots of handmade ornaments (I love to make ornaments), along with all our favorite ornaments we’ve collected through the years. I use pretty ribbon and coordinating ball ornaments to keep everything looking somewhat cohesive and then we pile on all of our favorite decorations.
I made the star on top using this same tutorial and the woven tree collar on bottom is very similar to this one.

Christmas in the breakfast room
And finally next to the living room is our little breakfast area. This is where some of the more colorful Christmas decor landed. In the corner I hung a few of the kids Christmas projects from when they were younger along with a cute metal Santa sign.
And below that mini Christmas gallery wall is an old Coke crate holding our Santa nutcrackers. These are some of my favorites to display every year.
If you love nutcrackers and Santas too, you might want to check out the free nutcracker printables I created. They’re free to download and print!
And finally, next to the breakfast table is the printable advent calendar I created a few years ago. While my kids love the Christmas activity advent calendar we do, this one is my favorite.
I printed out some of my favorite Christmas photos from throughout the years and every day in December, I reveal another photo. It’s a fun way to count down to Christmas while also looking back at favorite Christmas memories.
Head here to see more details about how I use this printable advent calendar and get your own copy.
And that’s our home all decked our for Christmas! Thanks for letting me share it with you!
And for anyone who’s curious, I am planning to finally share a full tour of the house at the beginning of the year, so if you want to see the current state of things when it isn’t all Christmas-ified along with the other rooms I didn’t share, stay tuned.
